v65animal 0 #1 Posted May 28, 2010 I had the dash taken apart for restoration. I had to take the throttle and choke cables off. Today I put everything back together. The choke seems to be fine. The throttle doesn't seem to be able to get the engine to Rev quite as high as it did. (Hard to tell) Blades don't seem to spin quite as fast, mower doesn't move quite as fast, and engine doesn't sound quite as loud. The main problem is I put the throttle all the way up and it starts to come back down. Not all the way of course, but enough that I can tell a difference, the mower slows a little, and you can hear the engine pitch change. The throttle cable has the outer black housing and the thin metal wire center. I loosened the clamp that holds the black outer housing, then adjusted the cable again. No luck, I tried several times. Any tips? Thanks, Sam
rickv1957 72 #2 Posted May 28, 2010 You can tighten the friction part on throttle with a pair of vice grips, just pinch it a little then try it, Rick
Horse Fanatic 49 #3 Posted May 29, 2010 Yes to what Rick said. Squeeze the rivet it pivots on with a vice grip. If it doesn't work, tighten the vice grips up and do again until you get the tightness you need.
v65animal 0 #4 Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks, I think that fixed it. I drove it around the drive way a little bit tonight after adjusting it. Thanks again! Sam
