Wheelhorse and the Indy 500

Recommended Posts

Prater

I was spending some time in the picture

archives of the Indy 500 races. There were quite

a few wheelhorse pics in the 60's. I ordered 4 8x10 pics for my office. If you make it to the museum, check out the archives on the second floor.

I also stoped by a Toro dealer close by and they had a 500 Special and a Suburban on the showroom floor.

You must have stopped by Henthorn's. They have a very nice 500 Special. Plus a Suburban 400 with a blade. Was just there today getting a new drive belt for my 550 and Stihl weedeater bump head.

Steven that's one thing I'd like to do... find some time to look through those archives and get some reprints.

You'd be amazed what you'll find in the basement of this forum.

Looking at those photos again I just noticed that some of the tractors were running ag tires :scratchead: . Would they give you better traction at the Brickyard?

Henthorns was the place, the

lady inside was very nice and started to tell the story on the 500 but was too busy with customers. I was there around 10:30 AM

Just missed you by an hour. Bummer. Yes Ricky is very nice lady and knows Horses pretty well. You should see the two barns in the back. There are hoods hanging from the rafters. They don't even know what they have.

I have a couple of wheel horse watch fobs, both have Henthornes on the back, and one says Henthornes, Marietta, Ohio. Is it the same dealership as the one in Indiana ?? :D

They're kinda like keychains. Check google or ebay, you'll see lots.
