JimD 3,345 #1 Posted May 23, 2010 Here's a few pics of the progress on the C85 refurbish. I say that because I don't do a restoration in the true sense of the word. Dash tower... Dash housing... Transmission, with new seals installed... Frame... The HH140 Tecumseh that I'm considering for a transplant. Not sure if it will fit under the hood yet, and I'd rather find a Kohler with more horsepower than the K181 for this machine... There's a long way to go on this one, more parts to paint, etc. It's gonna take awhile with everything else that's going on around here. But I'll whip it eventually. :D
rickv1957 72 #2 Posted May 23, 2010 Jim,looking good there!,you might have to raise the front of hood a little like the early C 160s as they had the Tecumseh OH160, Rick

stevasaurus 22,705 #4 Posted May 24, 2010 It looks like you do some of your best work in the dark. Now that those days are gone I have to say....it looks good in the light also. Want to see the rest of the rebuild as you go.
chdinct 28 #5 Posted May 24, 2010 Nice job so far. If you won't call that a resto, I will. I'm in tear down and clean up of my '67 1077 and I doubt mine will turn out better than yours looks so far. Look forward to updates on your progress.

JimD 3,345 #8 Posted May 31, 2010 Here's a few shots of the hood after painting... There was a little welding needed to repair the hood. This thing is a 40 footer, looks great from 40 feet away. :D

bmuone 15 #14 Posted June 2, 2010 There's something about that blue tape that reminds me of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" Very nice paint job.
JimD 3,345 #15 Posted June 3, 2010 A shot of the belt guard and one of the footrests.... So that there is no mistake here, if you were to see this up close, you'd see the paint that is under the new paint that I didn't get off. I got tired of trying to find a reliable sand blaster to blast the parts for me, and I got impatient. I figure it's a working tractor, so at least it will have paint where there was little to none before. It looks better than it did, but it's by no means a show tractor. I don't have the patience some of you guys do to restore one to mint condition, and my hat's off to all of you that have. You inspire me to take on a refurb now and then and I do enjoy the process, it's fun for me to get out in the shop and putz around with the horses. Thanks for the comments, I do appreciate them all. Notice how I cleverly stand just far enough away from the parts so the bad stuff doesn't show when I snap the pics... :D
hoppy 0 #16 Posted June 3, 2010 Nothing wrong at all with a good looking refurbished worker! if you ask me no sense in letting it sit in the corner looking pretty. i own one horse and its a worker!
dgjks6 6 #17 Posted June 7, 2010 I thinks it looks awesome. You made a lot of progress in a short amount of time. It looks like you will be up and running in no time. And you can't post too many picutes of the reassembly process. And we should push for the c-85 to be the show tractor and the 2011 wheel horse meeting. Keep up the great work Greg
