Wheels

Just wondering which brands of wheels are an exact match to our 70's and 80's C series :D 's. There are a bunch of 12" rims out there but which ones are, known, to have the same bolt pattern, accessory holes, width, and off set as ours do? I have been trying for ever to get an extra set of :USA: rims to mount up ags on, want to be able to switch out per given task, and always seems some jackass beats me out by .50 on e-bay, while I am at work. Never can seem to win, high bid low bid early or late bid, thank goodness for by it now. Sorry I drifted some. Seems like everybody wants wheel horse rims and nobody wants any of the others.

I have a set from an old Gilson tractor(Montgomery Ward) that seems to be the same. I have them on a 314-8 and they fit fine. Can't tell you any more than that other than the inside offset seems to be around 2 1/2 inches and outside around 5 inches. There's a guy about 15 miles from me that buys and sells tractors and parts and has a pile of wheels he sells for $5. Try looking around your area for someone like that and just measure them.

2 1/2" and 5" sounds like that should be close. A buddy gave me a set but they appear to be mostly centered. Everything else looks the same. The buddies dad has a lot of old stuff laying around, may see what he has.

For the most part the wheels for all garden tractors are the same bolt pattern (5 bolt) and weight holes, EXCEPT the placement of the center, making different offsets/back spacing, and of course how wide they are, WH are about 1.5 back spacing, you can get away with more back spacing on the older tractors prior to the gas tank under the fender.

I know some cub rims fit the newer WH's but is very tight to the tank mount with a 10.5 tire

Anybody know off the top of their head, how wide the rims are on a 520H? Missed out on some of those on flea-bay. I did find that the offset was different on my Classic GT than on my 74 C-160. On my 80 model C, guess the rim had come loose from the bolting plate, and someone welded it back together but they didn't get it back in the right spot and it is a different offset now so I guess I need to find a few rims. Some go cheap but the shipping cost is high. Anyway, thanks for the input.

Early 520 wheels are stock 7" rims later 520's had 8.5" rims and bring about $50+ on ebay they only have about 1" back spacing.

Thanks Kelly, that is what I was thinking. I think I will just go with some new 8.5" tires on my 80, it is my primary mowing machine right now, and if I go with a wider tire I think they will hit my deck wheels, it is a 36"RD deck. The one I wanted to put wider tires on is my worker and it has the 9.50 turfs, was thinking about a 10.50 Aggy's on it but it has the tank under the seat and is pretty tight with the turfs and large diameter chains.

Hey little brother :D .

One day when you don't have anything better to do, run out the the shop and put my tri ribs and ag's on the Classic. Then you can put the turfs from the Classic on the black hood C.

Thay should give you some time to find the wheels that you want. :USA:

Terry,

I may have some spare 7.5 rims. Can you wait about three weeks when I return?

I sure can, thanks Steven. I still have to get your fenders and tool box done. Got the barrel up and cooking again. Got to wait until this weekend, it is cooking some jeep parts right now.

Wondering if some Case Ingersoll 222 wheels would have the right off set? They have some 23x8.50-12 tires on them, they looked deep on the outside and shallow on the inside. Just going off of a picture, though. Any thoughts?

Kelly, what is the deal with the Case / Ingersoll wheels, is it the center hole or something? :USA: Sounds about right I just bought a set with tires, from E-bay, shipped for $55 bucks. :D

Is the auction number the same as the item #? If so, the ones I one was different, they were #180515508154.

If this is the situation and I try to run them anyway, what will it do, cause some undo stress on the hub / bolts, or something?
