jereco 0 #1 Posted May 18, 2010 I have a 1984 C165, it's not charging. I suppect the rectifier/regulator, or stator. I have found the rectifier behind the battery. How can I test it? My amp meter works, but shows no charge, and my battery is fine.
pfrederi 17,743 #2 Posted May 18, 2010 There are 3 wires on the regulator. Two (probably white) come from the stator (motor). Unhook them from the regulator and run the engine at full throttle. Set you multimeter to AC and take a reading between the two wires. If you have 28 volts or over your stator is doing its job. Low or no voltage there are some more stator tests. If you have 28 or more volts then it is most likely the regulator itself. Make sure it is well grounded. Regulator should put out around 14 volts at full throttle. What is your voltage reading at teh battery with engine running???
