papaglide 542 #1 Posted May 17, 2010 Well after much investigating the grinding noise that I experienced Friday we figured out what it is: the crank has at least a 1/4" of play in it. The crank was walking and the fins on the flywheel were scraping against the cover making the noise. Needless to say she ain't running at all. Seeing as I really don't want to rebuild an engine I am putting this horse out to pasture. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

papaglide 542 #3 Posted May 17, 2010 If I were more more mechanically inclined I could try that route but I am a little intimidated removing an engine and especially putting one in.
