Hydro need primed??

Recommended Posts

Trouty56

Well I had a leaky hydro pump on my D and I replaced the O rings at the pump and replaced the gasket around the housing. Hopefully this fixed it. O rings are a bugger :D . The pump is completely empty now. When I fire this thing up will the charge pump move oil from the rear or will it need primed somehow?? :USA:

Thanks for any help.

Hydro manual says to start with rear lifted and run a bit to prime without load,Rick

I missed that in the documentation I have or I skimmed over it. I looked again and still don't see it. Thanks Rick for the info.

When i rebuilt the rear on my D i did not have to prime it, it did it on its own

And i had to do it two times because the first time i had it split was to replace the bearings and the second time was to replace the snap ring on the axle. I hope i never have to do a rear in a D ever again.
