boovuc 1,090 #1 Posted May 16, 2010 Chuck, All, Thanks for your help on this project. I didn't post pictures until I was 100% sure I had good contacts everywhere. After tearing it down again and scrubbing the contacts on everything, I got power across the switch and the A terminal on the generator/starter. Some ether and a prayer, (plus a doush of the gass tank, lines and the pump), and it fired up. Boy does it need rings! Thanks for the help guys! Kelly 1,029 #2 Posted May 18, 2010 Just a tip don't use ether in these small engines, most carb or break cleaners work fine and will not hurt the alum rods like ether does or can.
Save Old Iron 1,566 #3 Posted May 18, 2010 BooVuc, Good to hear. Don't underestimate the value of THOROUGHLY cleaning the wiring terminals and connections. We did OK on this one - no pics and just 1 post. Koool!

953 nut 55,394 #5 Posted August 7 @paulgraham513@yahoo.com It sounds like your engine wiring has been altered so the factory wiring diagram probably won't be a big help but I have attached a link to it. The Black Box you spoke about is probably a Capacitive Discharge Ignition system (CID). You can find several videos on the internet that explain how the work.
