yankee495 0 #1 Posted May 13, 2010 Hello all, In 2003 I found a1973 8 4 speed going to the trash, got it free. I put a fuel line and battery on it and been mowing with it since. I just put new blades on it this spring. I was looking for a rear tiller for it wishing it was a bigger one, you know. Well today about 10 blocks from my house I seen a C-160 sitting in a ditch next to a half mowed yard. I walk up and ask if it was for sale. She said no and a voice from the back room said yes! It was not his but he called the old man and I got it for $300. I know nothing about the C-160 with the hydro and hydraulics etc. My dad had either a B-80 or a 8 4 speed in 1973. From just a quick look I think it is a 1974 C-160 auto, 16 HP Kohler etc. with a 42" deck. Everything works. There are minor things wrong none of which keep it from running or mowing. Lights don't work, dash has a crack and paint is bad. Not rust bad, just not pretty. I'm sure there are other things but I see no leaks, no smoke etc. Mows good. I know I didn't get taken but what do I have? I'll get a couple of pics up soon to show condition, which is quite good overall. I mean it is complete etc. Thanks guys. I've been reading here for about 2 weeks now (how I knew what a C-160 was) and I guess once in a while a wish does come true...if you kick in $300!!! Hahaha... I think I have that illness you guys speak of?

yankee495 0 #4 Posted May 13, 2010 OK I think it is a 1977 C-160 Auto. 71-16KS02-10142 7124 Deck: something(under bolt)-42-MS02-26704 7160 I found what some of the numbers mean.
TheUnknownCat 0 #5 Posted May 13, 2010 I have a C160. My friends drool at it, and they'd have a better chance of borrowing my best dog. Best piece of equipment possible for my uses on a small homestead. :D
yankee495 0 #6 Posted May 13, 2010 I already love it...Like the auto and stuff... The old lady never drove the 8 4 speed... I'm trying to get her to try this, much easier. Well, the 8-4 is just different...Maybe I'm just used to it. Don't wanna part with either.
