MRM 4 #1 Posted May 12, 2010 I'm looking for some new tires for my C 160. Anybody ever use skid steer tires? I found some on a web site that are 23x8.5x12 by titan for $119 ea. The carlisle tires I was looking at were two ply at $89.00 a pop the DeeStones are 6 ply at $45.00 each. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Carlisle imports from the same china factories that makes Dico, Deestone, Nankang and some others. Titan took over the Goodyear and Continential/General plants that make AG, industrial and Earthmover tires. They make their own, however, Titan imports some of their smaller industrial and AG tires from China now too. Knowing this, I installed some $50 no-name turf tires. Most if not all of the smaller sizes are mostly natural rubber anyways (like a pencil eraser) and will decay and harden faster than your car tires that are made of some natural rubber and mostly petroleum and synthetic polymers. But, back to your question, You can't go wrong with either brand. Carlisle has some nice products and Titan is producing some top tier tires too. I know from experience that Titan is made a little heavier and supports and stands behind their products 100%. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

jla1257 2 #9 Posted May 13, 2010 Chriss, It was a small town tire shop here in central Mississippi. I had them mounted over some International Tire & Tube heavy duty inner tubes (item 80150) if I evere needed to increase the draw bar pull (add water and antifreze). The Deestones were TR-315. The soil down here is what they call Gumbo Clay or Yazoo Clay. When dry it just about takes a Jack hammer to break it. If the slightest bit wet it's nothing to loose your shoe so I put the Ags onTheIr you get off the grass turf tires will clog and spin in a heart beat. GCT Wholesale is one (username "gregthree") but there are others. I have been watching these and plan to purchase a set before winter, but since I have not bought from any of the vendors yet, I can't relate any personal experience good or bad. Audioshot 2 #12 Posted May 14, 2010 Here is the skinny on your Carlisle Tru-Power tires. Titan owned the plant and molds here in the US for years. They sold the molds to Carlisle because it wasn't cost effective to make a 4"-12" bias ply tires in the US and still compete with the imports. Even though your tires say Carlisle, they were made with Titan molds in one of two former Titan US plants. They still have a good size inventory in the warehouses. Carlisle has shifted most of the 12" and lower to over seas plants and uses the former Titan plants to build larger tires like the 12.5/80-18 bias lug, 31x15.50-15 scissor lift tires....etc. If you look online, some dealers still list them as Carlisle/Titan Tru-Power. papaglide 542 #13 Posted May 14, 2010 I just bought a set of Carlisle Tru-Power 26 x 12 - 12 ag tread a couple weeks ago. Believe it or not, I bought them through my local Kubota/Toro, ex-Wheel Horse dealer. Each tire was $103 including mounting and inner tubes. I thought the prices were fair.
