my c-101 is stuck in low range can anyone help me out on what the problem is and how to fix it thanks,ed palmer

Ed, I was looking in the manual to see if anything stood out. A couple of things could be the problem. There is a detent ball and spring that could be the problem. Could be lack of lubrication. Here is a link to your transmission, you want section 5, starts on page 45...and starts to talk about the high/low on page 47....

Check your trans fluid...if that is OK and the rest of the trans shifts...I think you may have to drop the trans and open it to see. It is not hard to do, and we are here to walk you through it. Read section V (a little blurry) and see if something jumps out.

Ed, in an otherwise tough transmission the hi-lo shifter fork is a really weak item. If the shiufter got forced at some point it could have gotten broken or, as was the case in the last tranny I tore down, the fork had worn down to almost nothing. Not a difficult thing to change, but it does require opening up the tranny..... :USA:
