buster 2 #1 Posted May 10, 2010 Is there a way of changing the gear ratios of a unidrive in the gearbox itself? Can you swap gearsets from different year tranny's to get different ground speeds? Are there aftermarket gear sets available for unidrives? The speed difference going from 1st to 2nd to 3rd is to far apart for me.

First, What are you doing when the speed is too slow or fast, and what machine do you have. 1. No, not without re-manufacturing your own set of custom internal gears. (Would be enormously expensive) 2. No, all of the WH transmissions use roughly the same ratios. 3. No alternates available via aftermarket, except as stated in #1 above. 4. You can always change pulley sizes at the engine OR transmission to change the ground speed to your liking. Increase the engine pulley or decrease the transmission pulley will increase ground speed, and doing either of the opposites will decrease ground speed. Doing this only changes speed ranges (ground speed) and does not change ratios between gears. Essentially all WH Mechanical Transmission are ratios as depicted below. Gear...... HI Ratio ....... LO Ratio 1 ........... 66.8:1 ........... 267.2:1 2 ........... 42.4:1 ........... 169.6:1 3 ........... 24.6:1 ........... 98.4:1 R ........... 51.5:1 ........... 306.0:
