TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #2 Posted May 9, 2010 :D P/N is (was) 4988. Cole Hersee # is 95521-B and you shouldn't have to try very hard to find one. :USA:
markslawnmowerworld 4 #3 Posted May 9, 2010 Went to cole hersee and ordered the switch.......thanks for the info.. now all i need is the upper steering shaft and this tractor will be in running condition.... thinkin of putting a short frame plow on this one.....it is a nice little tractor. :USA:
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #4 Posted May 9, 2010 now all i need is the upper steering shaft Is the gear bad? If you can't find the exact part, you can shorten upper shaft from a long frame model (C series, 300/400, etc.) and drill the new roll pin hole for the wheel. If the gear is good, I would just make a new shaft. (3/4" cold rolled steel)
markslawnmowerworld 4 #5 Posted May 10, 2010 Awsome information..........and i have a c-series as well. i should have thought of that before..... are you sure the gears are the same on the two? i'm betting that they are or you would'nt have made that post.. thanks again, thats twice you have helped me with this tractor..... after i get all of these parts in, and get it running then i will start the hunt for a short frame plow...... :wh:
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #6 Posted May 10, 2010 are you sure the gears are the same on the two? Other than one being welded to the shaft and the other being pinned. My 855 (the little black one ) has an upper steering shaft from a C-101 ~ it's just 8" shorter. I also have a lower steering support from a 1982 GT-1100 on my 1963 753 ~ which proves that a good design needs no change! :D
markslawnmowerworld 4 #7 Posted May 10, 2010 Here are some pics of my recent wheel horse, i know it looks rough, but i like it, and thanks to the help and knowlege of a few members on here, it is now being saved..... I have seen where some guys on here are going for the rustic look. well i'm going to just do the rims, and engine up.. on this one and just leave it like that.....the rustic faded look is growing on me...thanks again to those who helped with all the info.
