PetesPonies 0 #2 Posted March 19, 2008 I guess I have asked the impossible question?
Jim_M 178 #3 Posted March 19, 2008 I have used a gang reel mower before, they cut great, are low maintenance, don't burn gas or need an oil change and depending on the amount of mowers in the gang, they can cover a pretty wide swath. They work well at high ground speeds. They take up a lot of storage space, work best on very level ground and don't cut weeds well. They also don't do well in tall grass, you have to mow regularly. Sickle bars also require less horse power than the same width rotary mower. They can cut almost everything and can cut up or down an incline, like a ditch bank. They don't take much storage space. You have to move pretty slow to get a good cut and won't be as nice as that of a reel or rotary mower. They require a lot of maintenance, and will rattle your fillings loose. I hope this helps.
