KC9KAS 4,741 #2 Posted May 1, 2010 Is it hard to shift when the engine is running, AND when the engine is off? If only when engine is running, maybe the clutch pedal is not letting the belt pulley to disengage enough for a smooth shift. Sounds like a good idea to drain, flush and refill the transmission oil. pfrederi 17,866 #5 Posted May 2, 2010 Remove the gear shift lever. Is the ball on the end worn flat on the sides??? Under the rubber shift boot you will find an allen head set screw pointing forward, should have a lock nut on it. Remove set screw and lock nut... the shifter will lift out. Also look at the set screw it is what is called here a dog point set screw (has a reduced size unthreaded tip portion. Is it worn ??
