Duff 206 #27 Posted April 27, 2010 Great looking results! I'm not sure I like the extent of the black, but I think it does look better than some of the restorations where it seems that everything that did not move got painted red. I'm curious if you thought that the foot rests were particularly rusty. I'm in the process of repainting the ones on my '97 314-H. The rest of my tractor does not have this problem. I'm wondering if the foot rests are a trouble spot on the classic style tractors. best, hank PS: I would put the hood ornament on a magnetic base so you can pull it out and stick it on when someone asks about it. Hank, I've got a few extra sets of 300-/400-series footrests kicking around and every one of them seems unusually rusted, both top and bottom. If I recall correctly, I read somewhere that Wheel Horse used a powder coat process for most of their parts? For whatever reason, the footrests didn't seem to "take" that finish as well as some other parts of the tractor. The upper surfaces do get a fair amount of abrasion from sliding on and off, etc., but the undersides shouldn't get that banged up in normal use. Danged if I know what to make of it! Great tip on the magnetic base for the hood ornament! Thanks for the input! Duff (or as Jason would call me, "Crazy") :D

Sparky-(Admin) 21,093 #35 Posted April 29, 2010 Fantastic job Duff. I give a to the black accents you gave it. The rims look great and I think black rims may be the next big fad as I was in a Home-Depot today and they had a couple tractors with black rims. Mike........
