1961551 2 #1 Posted April 25, 2010 hi, anyone know what the 1054 was produced for? its a bigger tractor. no low range. what were they made for? i'm considering buying one. it looks like a superb garden tractor to me, but low range is important for a tiller. jimmy
Hammerhead 817 #2 Posted April 26, 2010 Well the 1054 was a larger framed tractor for heavier work. It came with a very large 48 inch mower deck, which was huge for 1964 the year it was built. Started in 1963 with the Model 953. They also had a big snow blade and snow thrower too. They had a bunch of other attachments for these large frame machines. I would get it for sure if I were you, they are pretty rare by most standards. These evolved into the GT-14 in 1968 or 69, I forget. Now, go get her! linen beige 14 #4 Posted April 27, 2010 Just saw this post. The 953/1054/1054A models were meant as estate/commercial tractors. Their biggest advantage over other Wheel Horses was their higher ground clearance. You mention a tiller. There was NO tiller listed as an option for these models. They will pull a WT-241/242/ or 244, but you might have to do some creative pulley work to use a rear mounted one on it.
