3 of 4 wheels painted

Recommended Posts

The front wheels were rather rusty, they weren't the original wheels. The rears just had some spotting of rust.

I've been using the wire cup/wheel attachment on the drill, taking the rust off. On the front wheel I pretty much took it down to bare metal, the rears just the rust.

I paint them with a Zinc spray paint that says it prevents rust and doesn't need a top coat. The can says it's for galvanized fence, etc.

For the top coat I'm using a shiny silver Rustoleum. The Zinc spray is putting a few runs in it, but you can't tell from standing up and looking down at them, it's good enough, I won't be putting it in any shows.

Next job, the deck brace for the 42" side discharge, sand and paint it while I'm at it. Actually, I'll probably buy a cheap sand blaster and some play sand for the deck, the wheels take long enough to grind/sand. Then I'll move onto the floor boards and the side panel by the deck lever.

You might be able to fool those people in the midwest :omg: but you sure can't fool us people from South Jersey. You didn't paint nuttin. You just turned the tractor around to show the already painted wheels! :D
