Gt 14 Idler pulley Headache!

Recommended Posts

While cutting grass with my GT 14 the other day I noticed the Idler pulley (directly under the motor) Had virtually decentigrated and the deck belt was twisted up tike a snake.

So I thought to myself, no big deal I'll just stop at a bearing house and pop a brand spankin new bearing in the pulley. Matter of fact, I'll just do both the idlers and get em both done in one shot!

Boy, was I WRONG!! :D I went to two bearing distributors and they said it was an "oddly sized" bearing and none of thier suppliers make one with that size I.D and O.D.

Stopped by the Toro dealer and they weren't much help either, and a handful of parts stores also.

Surely I can't be the first to have this problem, right? :omg: I realize I could put a bushing in between an oversized I.D. bearing. But, guess what - can't seem to find a bushing the right size. Which then would mean a Machine shop would have to get involved. I could also just get a different idler and get a different length belt. Thier are plenty of other options but I'd really like to keep this tractor original as much as I can.

Any suggestions guys - got to figure something out - the grass ain't getting any shorter - especially with all the rain we're supposed to get! :D
