tgranthamfd 29 #2 Posted April 16, 2010 I think I have the same tractor as you, but my 315-8 Classic GT is by far the best that I own. Keep in mind it is only 5 years old and has been kept in the shed its whole life. I, also, can't take anything away from the older 2 that I have. 1 is 20 and the other is 36, they have had a rough life, before I got them, and they both will handle just about anything thrown at them, too. My brother has a 75 C-160 8 speed that has been taken very good care of and it is comparable to my newer one if it is not the other way around. The main thing I can tell you that I like about the newer one is, the old heavy attachments are much easier to lift. I just mounted up a 36" tiller on it, and haven't even bothered to put the lift assist spring on it yet, it is no harder to lift than the rear box blade on the 2005 and is actually easier to lift than the front blade on the 74 C-160. Hump 0 #4 Posted April 16, 2010 I grew up mowing with my grandpa's 310-8, and the only differences I find on my '07 Classic GT are cosmetic and safety related ....well except for the electric pto. I like the electric PTO, I just hooked up the tiller and the belt was way way to tight, I was told by another member, that with it being that tight, on the old style manual PTO, the tines would have been spinning the whole time at least his did. Hump 0 #8 Posted April 17, 2010 My tractor has only 50 hours on it, and I have had to repair the two wire connection at the pto twice. I can't figure out if the copper is breaking strand by strand from vibration or what, but it is a poor design in my opinion. With the manual pto, you can ease the lever forward at low idle and there is no shock to the components. The electric clutch takes all that stationary mass and slams it into motion. It makes my blower jump off the ground even at low idle. It's a good thing there is Kohler power behind it! :omg: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
