jsottile 0 #1 Posted April 13, 2010 I need to get new tires for my 520H. Carlisle only has two options, the turf master or the turf savers (in order to get the 16x7.5-8 for the front and the 23x.10.5-12 for the rear). My yard is flat so traction is not a big concern. I do put chains on for the winter. Would you go with the turf savers? Also, the turf masters only come in 4 ply. The turf savers come in 2 ply only for the front and 2 and 4 ply for the rear. Would you get the turf savers in 4 ply for the rear? I called Carlisle and they recommended running the 2 ply in the front and the 4ply in the rear for the turf savers. The place where I am ordering from only charges $5 more the 4 ply in the turf savers. The factory tires are all 2 ply. Thanks
clintonnut 126 #2 Posted April 13, 2010 I would go 4ply turf masters all around. If you don't have a small tire changer the fronts will be hard. Charlie
jsottile 0 #3 Posted April 13, 2010 Also, Carlisles reasoning for recommending 4 ply was that they will last longer and they are more puncture resistant. I would imagine they would not have as good ride quality. Thanks
clintonnut 126 #4 Posted April 13, 2010 It wouldn't be much of a difference. As long as you aren't sitting on a board. Plus with 4 plys you can run the pressure around 5lbs and it will have a nice ride. Charlie
Michael Bullington 5 #5 Posted April 13, 2010 to me it wouldnt be a big deal....I would save the cash :omg:
rickv1957 73 #6 Posted April 13, 2010 I would spend the extra 5.00 and get the 4 ply,Rick
jsottile 0 #7 Posted April 13, 2010 Anyone have any experience with the Turf Savers over the Turf Masters? I personally like the looks of the Turf Savers. Carlisle stated that the Turf Masters, while providing better traction, would have a better chance of messing up the grass.
clintonnut 126 #8 Posted April 13, 2010 Turf savers get POOR traction! I think carlisle said that turf masters mess up the grass because they grip better. Turf Savers just SPIN!!!! Trust me on a wet lawn even if it is flat they will spin! Charlie
