tgranthamfd 29 #1 Posted April 8, 2010 Just wondering if anyone has found a good replacement belt for the #1599 Tiller drive belt? Is this belt 1/2" x 140" or by 139", and would it make a difference if it was an inch either way? I saw a kevlar wrapped belt that was a replacement for like 13 bucks, sounds to good to be true. Any help / thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Terry.
tgranthamfd 29 #2 Posted April 8, 2010 I am dealing with a guy with a hardware store in NY that is bending over backwards to help me out on the #1599 belt, with measurements and all. The belt Lists for $53.49, this guy said he could order it for me and have it shipped for me within 3 days, if interested, for $43.00 and $8.00 shipping. I know it is only 2 or 3 dollars savings, but that is over list. The other one I found on E Bay wanted $63.97 for the Toro / Wheel Horse belt. If all works out well I will add this guys store to this post because he has been really helpful to me, and you just don't find that much these days. He has a very large selection of Toro belts, spindles, deck rollers, and such. Thanks
tgranthamfd 29 #3 Posted April 12, 2010 Should the tiller belt be extremely tight, when installed? It is a new belt. Thanks Terry
Caleb55 0 #4 Posted April 13, 2010 I just put one on my tiller. It's a John Deere belt 139x1/2. Can't remember the number off the top of my head, but it fits L120's and L130's with a 48" deck. It was $34 at the dealer. Works great so far.

tgranthamfd 29 #7 Posted April 13, 2010 Terry - yes its supposed to be very tight.. I had to get it all lined up on the rear, then get the mid all lined up, get the pulley side in the tach a ma-tic, and jack the other side up into the mount and lock it down. Just seemed a little to tight, but I ran it and it did ok. My belt was 138" and I think I might need a 139" or a 140". It is all mounted up on a 2005 315-8 classic GT. Here in a minute I'm going to put some pictures up on my tiller post in the work in progress section. Thanks for your input.

Blackhood Bill 721 #11 Posted March 10, 2021 (edited) @The Tuul CribI found this on the bay by offroadbelts $14 and seemed to do just find. They claim it is the replacement belt for #1599. I have this on my C-145 auto. Edited March 10, 2021 by Blackhood Bill

Blackhood Bill 721 #15 Posted March 11, 2021 @The Tuul Crib I have several of this brand of belt on my ‘s and have had good luck with them. I will see what happens this year when I till the garden. With that being said I’m still happy with the brand.
River Rat 1 #16 Posted June 10, 2021 Does anyone have a Diagram for the 36 inch tiller belt routing on a C145? Bought the tiller used it had a Wheel Horse belt 110266(number on belt) on it. I see that the belt should be a 1599 per info I found. The belt measured 140 in. OC. and was sloppy. Replaced it with an A138 belt and it worked better. used the tiller in some clay pretty hard and stretched the belt out. I read the the belt should be tight in one of the responses so I am looking to use an A136(138 in. OC) or an A137(139 in, OC), since the other belts flopped around quite a bit. Any thoughts? kpinnc 11,934 #17 Posted June 11, 2021 I don't remember my tiller belt being extremely tight, but it was a 139. I added a heavier spring on the belly idler and never had the tiller slip, even in clay.

I found out from a local dealer the the Tiller we have on a C145 uses a 110265 belt number 140 inches or so. The 1599 belt is to short for our application.. There was a note on the breakdown that showed the longer belt number. We bought the Wheelhorse belt for about $70. I did fint and company that has a Kevlar one for under $20. Will order that to have as a Back-up.
