Very cool - your DIY skills go far far beyond mine. But I will share some things I have learned about cable attachments. Two clamps are recommended. A single clamp can slip. Second, a piece called a thimble (think a small U-channel bent into a teardrop shape) can be used to prevent a too tight bend where the cable goes through the shackle. Depending on the tension on your cable, these may not be an issue, but they were when I made my own cable to lift my tiller.

Thanks for the pictures! I have a cart that looks very much like yours except it is black. Maybe some day I'll paint it red. At least now I have some idea what it would look like. :omg:
