Here's what I started with... A slightly weathered 502...

The engine. A Yanmar L40AE (4hp) with recoil start only.

The necessary frame modification. Not wanting to raise the hood (at all), I welded some plates in between the frame rails to accomidate the diesel's mounting holes. I moved the engine as far forward as possible, and can now slide a battery RIGHT in the battery box... Just in case I should happen to add electric start.

Here it is in "test mule" stage... Complete with the J.C. Whitney adapt-a-kit and test pipe! :omg:

The completed 8-speed conversion...

I used a 3" pulley on the transmission and a 2-1/2" on the engine to speed it up a little. It moves pretty good now! :D When you let out on the clutch in 3-HI, she's rollin coal... :omg:

Calling it done for a while... Everything works well and this tractor is LOTS of fun. I had originally planned on a total repaint, but I think it is going to stay this way for awhile. The rustic look is really growing on me... :omg:

Thanks fellas...

I don't have any videos yet. I haven't figured out how to do that one yet.

It seems to have plenty of power. I haven't hooked to anything yet, other than a dead Raider 12 I bought at the Elnora swap meet. It pulled it with ease in 3 high... :omg:

Gene, I guess it would be a 402, but the horsepower is 4.x, so I'm going to round up to 5... :D

The exhaust is a slightly customized Stanley tractor muffler... model AC-1. It is for small AC tractors and is for 1-1/2" pipe.

Not a Harbor Freight cabinet, I got it from www.summitracing.com It was cheaper than anywhere else and nearly free shipping.

Thanks fellas!

The barb fitting is for the fuel return line. It sends excess fuel from the injector back to the tank.
