gwgdog66 23 #1 Posted March 31, 2010 I'm rebuilding an older (05-42MR01) rusted beyond repair, 80's 42 RD deck, and using a newer shell for a Mdl # 78350. The center drive pulley on the old deck appears (to me) to have been installed upside down. Big part of the pulley down, and small part up, hooking to the mule drive belt. Looking at the parts diagram it shows the pulley (Item 9 PN 110148) with the small pulley down, and the big on top. Which makes sense, same size pulley would spin the blades at the same speed. Once I get it to break loose from the spindle, I want to install it correctly. Can anyone verify the proper orientation for me? Thanks
gwgdog66 23 #3 Posted March 31, 2010 Butch, That's the parts list I'm looking at. I believe the previous owner had it upside down. I wanted to verify. I was looking at some pictures in faster's deck rebuild, and it looks like the drive pulley is opposite of the RD deck I'm doing.
gwgdog66 23 #4 Posted April 1, 2010 I just answered my own question. I had forgotten that I had an old spindle from several years ago, that I never could get the pulley off the Spindle when the bearing went out. The small side does go on bottom, and the larger one on top.

can whlvr 993 #7 Posted April 3, 2010 i would think that all the blade pullies should be the same size, and the odd pully on top
gwgdog66 23 #8 Posted April 3, 2010 i would think that all the blade pullies should be the same size, and the odd pully on top Yea Don, That's waht I was thinking, and it threw me when I started tearing the old deck down. I'm getting old and couldn't remember how the pulley's went. The old deck when it was used last (Don't Know When) had to be one ruff vibrating son of a gun. gwgdog66 23 #13 Posted April 14, 2010 Just about complete. Waiting on 4 spacers for the hitch/suspension assy. Nothing is ever perfect, the belt covers won't line up with the holes in the new deck. I wasn't happy with the paint job on the covers anyway. front view side shot otherside shot
