KC9KAS 4,741 #1 Posted March 29, 2010 Mounted the K241S on the 1975 B-100 AUTO this afternoon. The rear flywheel side used a bolt & nut through the engine oil pan & frame. The front flywheel side used a bolt through the pan then threaded into the frame. The PTO side has both oil pan holes hanging over the edge of the frame. Is this normal? Am I susposed to use 2 "J" bolts for mounting this side of the engine to the frame? :omg:
rickv1957 72 #2 Posted March 29, 2010 The J bolt goes on the right front,a regular bolt goes up thru frame into oil pan on the rear,Rick
KC9KAS 4,741 #3 Posted March 29, 2010 There isn't any frame under the pan holes on the PTO side! Like I said, both PTO side pan holes are hanging over the frame.
rickv1957 72 #4 Posted March 29, 2010 There should be 2 holes into bottom of oil pan directly above frame on the right side, not the outer holes!,if engine is not from a wheelhorse they may not be there,Rick
KC9KAS 4,741 #5 Posted March 29, 2010 OK, Now I understand! There should be threads in the oil pan and bolts go UP from the bottom of the frame INTO the pan. Is that what you are trying to get me to understand?

rickv1957 72 #7 Posted March 29, 2010 Yes,the rear goes up thru frame into pan,the front uses the J bolt thru outer hole from bottom up and hooks to frame,Rick

rickv1957 72 #9 Posted March 29, 2010 On a wheelhorse kohler the right 2pan attach bolts are drilled all the way thru and are tapped from bottom to mount engine to frame,Rick
KC9KAS 4,741 #10 Posted March 29, 2010 OK Rick, "You da man". I went back down to the horse barn, and sure enough, I found the hole you said was there! Guess I need to take this 'puter to the barn or bring the horse into the living room! But, I am getting some exercise running back & forth! :D

jpmcleod 4 #12 Posted March 29, 2010 Don't feel bad. You are not the only member asking the frame bolt question. I went through that with my 312-8 trying to find the PTO bolt holes on my 12 HP magnum. Rick may not remember but he steered me on that one. A lot of us have to learn. This site will always help you. tranders 0 #13 Posted March 30, 2010 On my Raider the K241 has two J bolts on the PTO side. Guess I'll have to look at mine also.
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #14 Posted March 30, 2010 A Raider didn't and shouldn't have any J bolts. Perhaps yours has a replacement engine or oil pan - or someone saw the empty holes and got nervous. :omg:
