webber560 0 #1 Posted March 28, 2010 I picked this horse up on thursday evening and have been doing research it is hard to find. there are conflicting things I am coming up with such as the trans this one has a 3 speed and the one site I was on said they only came out with 4 speed trans. I think it is all origional not all butchered up but does have a great amount of surface rust but the old briggs fires right up and its strong enough to pull the front end off the ground is this something worth putting my time into it has a deck with only surface rust and the elec clutch works fine

Roger from southern Iowa 1 #7 Posted March 28, 2010 The terms 4 speed and 8 speed was a little confusing for me too. Your machine has 3 forward and 1 reverse. Wheel horse called this 4 speeds. The 8 speeds 3 forward and reverse plus high and low ranges= 6 forward and 2 reverse, therefore 8 speed. If you have just surface rust, not much pitting of the sheet metal some basic prep work and some paint, you'll have a nice red WH. With all that said, and don't be surprised if at least one more finds your house. Between the and the Deere you will stay busy for a while. Glad you got to keep the father in law's 110 in the family. webber560 0 #10 Posted March 28, 2010 I can see more than one or two more there is all kinds of storage place to put them The addiction started with the big one That is a 1967 john deere JD300 w/a backhoe and loader I found this one in a farmers field and put 6 monts work into it at as continuos project there was nothing going on but tractor new brakes clutches rebuilt hydraulics and cylenders welding here and there and the thing that made the big differance but took alot of work was the prep and paint not complete but alot closer than it was. I am glad I stumbled across this site looks like many interesting people and loads of info Attached Image

KC9KAS 4,741 #15 Posted March 28, 2010 It looks like you have done a very good job on the backhoe. The WH looks pretty good to start with, so you won't have any trouble restoring it. Good luck, and as everyone else said, and keep those pictures coming!
