mavfreak 11 #6 Posted March 28, 2010 ok I checked it out some. Engine turns over no spark, carb is froze and gas dumps out of it. clutch and brake pedals are froze mower deck is a side discharge and all spindles are froze and center pulley is in several pieces. transmission seams ok as does body work lifting arm does not work and even though its hooked up it doesn't lift anything. PTO engine arm is not attached to anything and parts seam to be missing tires are shot one flat battery took a charge and holds it
mavfreak 11 #7 Posted March 28, 2010 well I messed around some more. got the carb to stop dumping gas and low and behold got it to start. I also found one shaft on the deck was free and spins. plus found brake lock was rusted in the lock position so freed that up and brakes now work. and started tearing it down. Still don't know if i want to sink money into this or part it out. just rebuilding deck is alot. the engine is running in this picture and runs pretty strong for a briggs from 1977
mavfreak 11 #8 Posted March 29, 2010 were do I find the engine numbers on a briggs 10hp v shaft I need to start a parts list.
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #9 Posted March 29, 2010 Stamped into the blower housing. (flywheel cover/shroud) By the way..... don't run it long with the blower housing removed or you will burn up the engine!
mavfreak 11 #10 Posted March 29, 2010 I've searched the shroud all over and can't seam to find anything. It is in really nice shape and I can see were there was a sticker at one time is that were the numbers could have been?

It will only allow you to post one picture per post and frankly, we don't recommend anyone using it. It slows down the threads from loading and takes up precious file space. It is highly recommended you use an outside host like photobucket to post pictures here. Please read this thread: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=5937

mavfreak 11 #13 Posted March 29, 2010 is that why the back button doesn't work and this sight keeps locking up?
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #14 Posted March 29, 2010 Sorry, I didn't mean for you to remove the pictures you had already attached. Sorry if I led you to believe that - it isn't necessary to remove them. If you can, go ahead an attached them again. As for the back button not working properly, I don't believe it's related to anything you did here in this thread. I'm not sure what's up with that as it's been reported by several members now. Hopefully Karl can get ahold of the forum software gurus and they can see if it's this software that's the problem. Again, sorry if I led you to believe you had to remove the images. I didn't mean for you to do that. Sorry.
