Gentlemen. I am currently working on a Raider 12 and the lift handle spring is shot.

What is the proper procedure for replacing?. Do I have to take the whole assembly out of the machine? any guidance will be most appreciated :omg:

Jimmy,

I have a B-100 and C-120. I think that the lift assembly handle is similar if not the same as yours.

Since I took my lift handle completely off without really looking to see if it could be serviced without taking it off, here is my thought.

If you remove the height adjustment assembly (part with the knob), you may be able to remove the old spring and replace it without removing the entire lift handle assembly.

The spring just sits under the lower plunger, (that's the piece at the bottom of the push rod that actually engages into the notch in the height adjuster), and the top of the spring is held captive by a projection that stick out of the bottom of that lower plunger. The bottom of the spring just rests on the bottom of the lift assembly.

Otherwise, the removal of the lift handle assembly is not that big of a job.

If I am wrong, I am sure that someone will post a proper answer.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Bob

:omg: for your help Bob! I've been looking at that area down by the height adjustment and wondered if you couldn't just somehow wiggle a new spring in there without removing the whole assembly from tractor. Just out of curiousity how do you remove the whole shaft assembly from the tractor?. :D

Before attempting to remove it, disconnect the lift bar assembly from the lift arm.

On mine, there are 3 bolts that attach the lift pivot assembly to the hood stand. Two that go into it from the front and one from the side. Remove them, and also remove the clip that goes through the shaft. You can then slide it toward you and forward to get the whole thing out. You may have to wiggle it around the steering shaft, and removal of the battery makes it easier.

Look at the parts diagram that WH854 mentioned. That will help.

This is how I did it on my B-100, your machine may be different.
