boatman 3 #1 Posted March 25, 2010 :D Hi guys, I have a 1969 GT 14 . The hydro trans is leaking oil where the shifter assembly is. Any ideas of how to fix this? I haven't tore it a part yet,I don't know much about hydros. Is this an easy fix or is it going to be a major? Are the parts still available for this old a beast? Thanks :omg:
rickv1957 72 #2 Posted March 25, 2010 Sounds like your O-ring is leaking between shifter housing and pump housing, you will have to unbolt trans and move back a couple of inches to access and remove shifter housing and shifter arm to replace o-ring,Rick
boatman 3 #3 Posted March 26, 2010 :D Thanks Rick. I haven't looked, but that probably means taking rear fenders, seat etc off to unbolt hydro trans doesn't it. I just got tractor all painted and looking good. Just needed decals. Will also need to undue hydraulic lines too. That means it will have to set awhile as it is now boating season and we are trying to get the old chris craft cruiser ready for her spring splash. ya all have a good one :omg:
refracman 167 #4 Posted March 26, 2010 The is also a oring behind the shift cam plate. Part # 57 in the GT14 parts manual toro #972116. It not umcommon for these to leak after time. Its a fairly easy fix once your to it. First degrease the area to determine where its coming from and go from there. If your need the parts manual send me a pm.
