Springfield tractors

rusted and busted

just bought a Springfield tractor,don't know anything about them,but its pretty cool looking.number on the hood is a 63 i believe.any help would be appreciated. thanks guys

A friend has a Springfield. I'm not sure what model.

You might check the numbers on the engine. It would give you a idea of year, if the engine is original.

They are well build machines.

Does yours have white fiberglass fenders and hood?

Is it red/white with a vert shaft engine or orange/white with a horizontal shaft?

Cool. Springfields were made by Quick Manufacturing of Springfield Ohio . They also had earlier little lawn mower models (somewhere I have a scanned ad, I'll see if I can find it.) tillers and two wheeled garden tractors.

Yours should be between a 62-64 model. If I remember right, the orange ones were 65-66 and then the line was sold to Toro.

Edit... found the ad I have... this is from the mid-late 50s.

thanks guys,tried to get it running today,but gasket on float bowl is bad.picked up the roper for a puller.need a carburator rebuild kit for it.tryed to start it but not picking up fuel.

i have the very same springfield 36 tractor,not a single rust hole in the deck or the tractor.in the process of making a new gear shaft because water got in tranny and rusted the bearings to the shaft,badly pitted . neat little tractors
