mflowers 85 #1 Posted March 9, 2010 I have just started to tear down my 160 for restoration and notice that the engine is only bolted to the frame on one side. Is this the way it was done at the factory, this was my grandfathers tractor and he was anal about maintenance and repairs so I doubt it was anything he did. It did however spend several years with an Ex-Brother in law who was notorious for rigging stuff. Just want to be sure when it's time to back together it is done right. Horse Rancher 0 #2 Posted March 9, 2010 the bolts on the pto side come up from the bottom on the inside of the frame rail
mflowers 85 #3 Posted March 9, 2010 OK, I will have to take a closer look. There are two bolt holes on the bottom of the oil pan that overhang the frame on the PTO side, are these for other applicatons?
Rollerman 290 #4 Posted March 9, 2010 The big block Kohler singles overlapped the side of the frame on all the Horse's. So just as the above poster mentioned ...you see the two visible bolts flywheel side & on the PTO side two bolts thread directly into the oil pan through the frame itself. The two mounting ears over hanging the frame are not needed then.

jpmcleod 4 #6 Posted March 9, 2010 Arn't they fun to get to with the steering arms in the way. Lay on your back and say a few words as you turn the wheels from right to left.
WH854 44 #7 Posted March 9, 2010 Not All Wheel Horse engines are fastened to the frame that way some are bolted to what some people call a shaker plate. Here is what they look like. Chas
