400

We finally had some nice weather and I finally had some time to work on tractors, besides buying expensive parts. Put together this 400 today. I found foot rests, shifter, seat, gas tank, K91, NOS Fairbanks Morse starter, throttle/choke assembly and the steering pieces.

I still need to tap pipe threads into the exhaust port and add the throttle assembly. I have a set of fenders and tool box but they must fit something else, the fenders sit too low where they are bolted on the box now. Is anybody willing to trade for the right tool box before I drill this one???

I also met another member and his girlfriend today, Chris11. He stopped by for 1 part but ended up with a few extra. Too bad he didn

I think this will stay as it is for now. I kinda like the look of an old tractor plus the PO did a little hacking on the hood.

The RJ needs to get finished first. I'll resore it when I run out of other projects.

On the fenders...... My fenders have two sets of holes and it depends on which side of the tractor they go on!! Don't know if that helps!?!?!

With regard to your fenders: My 63 Ranger has that style of toolbox and fenders, and as DMK stated, there is two sets of holes in my fenders to allow different heights.

Here's a pic of the two positions (remember that this is with little 8" rims!)

and a pic of the holes:

I've never had a 400, but I was under the impression that this toolbox and fenders was the same? B)

On my 400, there was only 1 set of bolt holes, but I did attempt to put them on the wrong sides, they did not fit right.

I guess I brain farted on the whole fender thing.

I also thought these type were all the same, so after seeing the pics, going out to look at them again and putting them on the CORRECT side and position, they'll work fine without having to drill the box. Thanks for the help!
