417A transmission question

The 417A I bought seems to back up really slow but has plenty of power. The shifter hits the hydraulic engagement control and if i put more pressure on it it seems to be a little faster. I also notice that there in like a detent notch that the shifter lever might sit in....wonder if this might be the neutral position.

Are there adjustments
