Sleeve Hitch Cable Question?

Looking at a sleeve hitch cable, only described as a WH 111 cable, and described as coming off a 91-148801, which according to the list of #'s I have doesn't exist?

Depending on how I search for "close" numbers, I suppose it could potentially come from an A, B, or C model?

Anyway, would an A/B/C-111 cable fit my B-80, or is there not enough info to know?

That was the closest I could guess Catman.

The "B" for an "8" switch seems an easy error. As to the "1" to a "4"? I suppose....

look at the rest of the parts he has listed for sale it was a C-111 probably a 79 that cable might work on your tractor but is not the correct one, the cable housing is shaped diff. but should work.

I'm not intimately familiar with the setup here....I already have a small "conduit" running under the seat pan for the cable to travel through. Is the cable housing the same thing, or different? Does it mount at the "front" by the deck-lift handle?

If the conduit is there, you can, get some 3/16th cable and the eye hardware, and clevis' from the hardware store and you should be good. I think I spent $20 bucks and had stuff left over.

I did this with my 1975 C-160 and it works great. I bought 2 1/2 feet of cable and that was enough with the small clevis I bought. when I got it adjusted to where everything worked proper, I cut off the excess cable. Ace hardware had everything I needed.

After posting my question, and getting a couple of replies, I went out to the garage and did some testing (with an old, straightened out coat-hanger) and decided I could fab something myself that should be entirely serviceable.

And besides....come on....who wants to pass up any opportunity to stroll the isles at their local TSC?!?!?

This cable construction using hardware store materials would be a good tutorial item for a lot of Red Square members with photos provided. I have not made one of these for any of my tractors but I have been thinking about doing so for a B-80 and adding a slot hitch for garden plow and disc use.

If any member has some photos of making one of these and the parts that would do the job well I know I would appreciate the bump up in the learning curve. Securing the 3/16 cable on the hitch and lift and running thru the tube under the seat does take a few steps.

Found this info for several of the B-80's and Model 91-14K801 ('79 / C-141). They all use the same clevis hitch, which is where that part in your hand would be detailed.

8-5514 / Clevis Hitch - Type "A" / Current Model Available: 85518 Original Model Supersedes To: 8-5515

As I said, the part you are looking at is part of the Clevis Hitch assembly. I looked through several variations of the B-80 and all quote the current 85514 and 85518 kits (available from Toro) as the correct kit for your machine. The part in particular you are looking for is ASSY-LIFT CABLE p/n: 105542 (which is also available from Toro for $66.42).

The part in your hand should be the same, but I have no idea what the "111" part number would be referring to.

Glenn has the newer style tube. It looks like he was able to use a thicker cable then I did. It shows a good pic of the clevis also.
