boatman 3 #1 Posted March 1, 2010 B) Hi Guys, I have been bitten by the WH bug. just purchased a gt 14. Going tomorrow to pick it up.Idon't really know much about these tractors. This one doesn,t have the 3 pt hitch on it, but I would like to add it. What I would like to know is, does the main tractor hydraulics work the 3 pt or does it have to have it's own hydraulic cylinder? I believe this is a 1969 or 1970. I don't know how much differance there is between the two.
Ole MN 11 #2 Posted March 1, 2010 they use the mid lift cylinder. I put one on mine no problems.
rickv1957 72 #3 Posted March 1, 2010 You can add a 3pt as most of them use the same cylinder,a very few had there own cylinder though,Rick
boatman 3 #4 Posted March 1, 2010 B) Thanks Rick for info. I thought this tractor might make a good one for a front end loader.I will have to look now for a 3pt hitch for it. What is a ave. price to buy the 3pt set up?
whfan74 2,066 #5 Posted March 1, 2010 I have seen the 3 pts. go for over $250. I just asked recently if a D series set of 3 pts would swap right on to a GT 14 and they do not. Be careful when looking and make sure you get exactly what you need. Congrats on the new tractor! B)
boatman 3 #6 Posted March 1, 2010  Thanks Scott for the info, I just saw a 3 pt hitch for D series on ebay and wondered if it would fit the GT. There is also a 3 pt for gt but they want $ 300.00. That seemed hi but maybe isn't so bad after all. B)
Brrly1 1,146 #7 Posted March 1, 2010 Hello Boatman, Nine times out of ten they usually go for around $250 for the three point. There are three points that operate off of the mid-lift setup or there are also independent setups that have there own hyd. valve and lift cylinder which mount on the back off the tractor directly on the rear hitch which holds the lower arms. The hyd. valve sits to the left side, on the tunnel. The GT14 is a good tractor. Basically my favorite, I guess if you look at my signature you would be able to tell that. See Ya, Bye Burly

boatman 3 #9 Posted March 1, 2010 B) Thanks Brrly 1, Will either set up work on any GT or do you have to have the one for your model yr?
Brrly1 1,146 #10 Posted March 1, 2010 Boatman, Nope, it basically does have to be specific for the GT14. The model year does not matter as they all will work because they are the same. Did you happen to buy up the one off of ebay over towards St. Loiuis? I wish you luck as I said they are good tractors. I can help you with alot of info but there are alot of guys on here that know a whole lot more than me. See Ya, Bye Burly
boatman 3 #11 Posted March 1, 2010 B) Yes brrly 1, that is the one I bought over by St Louis.

boatman 3 #16 Posted March 2, 2010 B) will either style 3 pt work on any gt 14? In other words will the 3 pt hitch that operates off mid hydraulic or the one that has it's own hydraulic cylinder to lift hitch fit all gt's. If not, how do you know which one you need. believe this is a 1969 tractor according to Jim. thanks
Brrly1 1,146 #17 Posted March 2, 2010 Boatman, My first question to you. As you look at the tractor from the left side do you notice a hole about 5"- 6" from the top about 1/3 of the way back from the center console. The hole shouldbe close to an inch in diameter. If you happen to have that hole then you would be able to set up the indep. three point. If you don't it would be easier to setup the mid - lift three point. If I remember correctly looking at the pictures on ebay you have the setup without the hole in the left side of the tunnel, which means the mid-lift setup will work for you.Yup, I was correct as I still had a copy of the auction, Mid lift will be the best for you alot less work to setup. I believe that one guy that you email here in the Square (gtdcic) has the correct three point for you. I remember seeing his post and checking out what he had listed which would be correct. Let me know what you get figured out. I will help as much as I can. Good Luck See ya, Bye Burly B)
boatman 3 #18 Posted March 2, 2010 B) Greg I sent ya an email about your 3 pt hitch for GT 14. Tractor looked pretty good and seemed to run well.
boatman 3 #19 Posted March 6, 2010  Brrly, I got with greg on his post for 3 pt hitch. I bought it and it will be on it's way. Looking forward to taking tractor apart to do a basic restore and paint job. Tractor seems to be in pretty good shape and shouldn't take to much. The wiring needs a little work and getting eng to chg batt. Clean up and paint and fix lights. would like to put some tractor treads on rear and some ribs on front. Also might see if it's possible to ad the tach o matic hitches so as to use mowers that i already have. B)
