I get mine (steel or aluminum) from the local welding shop.

Here's an eBay seller that usually lists a lot of scraps and smaller pieces and the prices aren't really terrible.

I'm pretty sure I've seen it at Home Depot and Lowe's also.

Try a local shop that does fab work or builds trailers they should have scraps, and could cut it to size for you, just a tip on cutting alum sheet metal 1/8th inch or thicker, you can use a skill saw/circular saw with a plywood blade mounted backwards it cuts nice and clean and quick.
