Lane Ranger 11,060 #1 Posted February 21, 2010 I saw this Parker lawn sweeper company information while looking for some replacement canvas/sweeper basket replacement parts. Althought not Toro/Wheel Horse -these Parker Sweepers look to be very well made, are made in the USA and Ariens is going to start selling in their operations. I am posting as some Red Square members may be interested in the products they are making and selling and sales means jobs in the USA. http://parkersweeper.com/parker-company-inc.php Ariens Acquiistion Press Release: http://parkersweeper.com/Ariens_Acquires_Parker.pdf Product Catalog: http://parkersweeper.com/pdf/Parker%202008...g%206-12-08.pdf
Rideawaysenior 25 #2 Posted February 21, 2010 I was given one of the gas driven ones by my neighbor when I was a kid. He thought it would help me out as I was the neighbor hood lawn mowing kid. They do make quite a substantial product. I can remember not being a tow behind, I would mow with my Charger 10 auto, and then once the leaves were all ground up, fire up the sweeper and pick up the grass and leaves. I thought I was the coolest kid on the block having my own power equipment.

Rideawaysenior 25 #4 Posted February 21, 2010 Ten years old and I was using my dads Toro Whirl Wind push mower. I had three lawns at that point. I was ambitious and went after a couple of more, and was also approached by one of our church leaders and he asked if I might consider mowing the grass there for them. I told my dad that it was time for something bigger and he agreed. We went down to see Grandpa Ed who ran a hardware store in town and who also sold Wheel Horse tractors. He was so proud of my ambition, he took me out back and showed me a nice Charger 10. He looked at me and said, "Jack, I'm going to give you this mower provided you keep up your grades and continue to be a good kid." Well I can't say I've always been a good kid but I did my best. When I went to college, I ended up selling it to raise some money and so things go. About five years ago, I noticed an add in the paper advertising a Charger 10 and I recognized the phone number too. It was the person I had sold it to. I called immediatley and secured the deal. I've got that mower in my shed and will be cleaning it up this spring with hopes of taking it to the show this year. My grandfather passed December 18th of this year so I think it would be a fitting way to memorialize him and the fond memories I have of playing on the tractors he had at his shop, and all he ever did for me. Mike, no doubt I was the coolest kid on the block. You would have thought someone gave me a million bucks. Honestly, I can't wait to get this one done so I can relive that feeling all over again. Lane Ranger 11,060 #5 Posted February 21, 2010 Rideawaysenior: Thanks for sharing that great story about your Charger 10 your grandfather Ed gave you! Finding it after a sale is a sure sign you were meant to have that tractor! Best of luck in your efforts to get it going again for your continued enjoyment and opportunity to remember all it means to you. B)
