ok, i work with a man that knows i have interest in wheel horses. he told me that he had an old one that he has had , and sat ,for years that needs a mower engagement clutch. i asked, how old. im partial to round fenders. turns out ,it is a c 165. black hood. kolher 16hp 8 speed. i saw fuzzy cell phone pics. suposibly had carb rebuilt and 1 tire replaced 3 years ago. i know, you need pics. so do i. he said it mowed fine, but the pto cluch was slipping. he's 50 miles from me. he wants $150.00. i could use the 8 speed. whats a running 16hp k series kohler worth? thanks, jimmy

I'd make her sing. Hard to beat a black hood, I really like mine. It's a 14 hp single. I'm kind of a tall feller, they are very roomy and comfortable to drive.

I'd go get it at that price. They're nice tractors.

Hi--its worth way more than $150 and I bet if he turned the trunion on the PTO engagement rod a couple turns his slipping clutch problem would go away. B) PLEASE don't part it out.... C165 Black Hoods aren;t that easy to find and you can get an 8 speed uni-drive anywhere if you need one.

There is a C-165 near me the guy bought it new in 84 he replaced the engine about 5 years ago but said it could use a rebuild it smokes, it has spent it's life outside and shows it, he wants $200 but to me that is too much, it's ruff has ags on it but they are shot, so I guess with out pictures or just plain seeing it, it's a judgment call, the 16hp can part out for fair money if not completly junk.

Run right down there and haul it home pal! The Black Hoods were great tractors and the C-165 is hard to find in my opinion.

1961551,, In my opinion(like anyone cares) you should go get it... Being the PROUD  owner of a C-165/8, it a great tractor.. I mow about 3 1/2 acres . It does a great job. I pull a drawbar disc, and cultivator with it too. It just plays with them. As was said, turn the yoke and the clutch will probably quit slipping.. Mine isn't the prettiest tractor and I had no doubts about paying $500.00 for it. I sure wouldn't sell it for that. Good Luck..... start driving B) .. Pat
