T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,505 #1 Posted February 19, 2010 An article from 1964 Popular Science featuring several garden tractors (alas no Wheel Horses). 1964 Popular Science Article
CasualObserver 3,408 #2 Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks for the link T-Mo.. nice article. There may not be any WH in there, but I see one of those cool, rare Gravely Westchesters! You can find some that feature Wheel Horse in the old Pop Science and Pop Mechanics if you search Google Books. There's quite a few vintage magazines there that are free to read. Just search keywords like "wheel horse" or "garden tractor". You can see some nice vintage ads that way too!
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,505 #3 Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks, Jason. I need to do a search then. I'm sort of addicted to the old articles and ads, as well as the old brochures, regardless of brand or equipment. I think it's also hilarious that some of the guys using these in these old ads and brochures are wearing clothes that aren't really suited for outdoor work. Docwheelhorse 2,665 #6 Posted February 20, 2010 LOL.... did you guys see the Gravely??? They put way more time into Fiberglass then they did the little itty bitty tires on all four corners!!! Tony
CasualObserver 3,408 #7 Posted February 20, 2010 Tony, those Gravely Westchester models are highly collectible. They were made shortly after Gravely was bought out by Studebaker.
Nick 13 #8 Posted February 20, 2010 At page 106 this Popular Mechanics has a nice article on the Hesston front runner. There are a couple others tractors mentioned and some interesting ads also. Popular Mechanics link
