802heath 0 #1 Posted February 17, 2010 i was inspired by other tractors on here to build an exhaust, what do you guys think? i put a support bracket under it and it is not visible from outside the hood! B)

Save Old Iron 1,566 #3 Posted February 17, 2010 try to use (2) 45degree bends instead of the 90 degree - it will smooth out the exhaust flow by decreasing back-pressure thru the 90 degree bend. Remove the stickers from the pipe before they catch fire - polish the pipe on an old bench grinder (made in america) and protect the hood decals from the heat generated by the pipe. You may also want to protect the exhaust port with a flapper to keep out any rain or water - this will travel down the pipe and corrode the whole mess - maybe even filling up the head in the engine with water - then when you crank the engine with water in the cylinder - this could blow apart the head !! markslawnmowerworld 4 #4 Posted February 17, 2010 HE is right about that.....and the pullers go so far as to decrease any internal flange stops for increased flow.... looks nice!
jpmcleod 4 #5 Posted February 17, 2010 I have two identical to your setup. Love the sound. After the mufflers cools off, place a spray can plastic top over them for protection. They fit right over the end of the muffler and keep any moisture out. I have two of those on an Onan twin. I really love the sound of an Onan with duals. Nice looking tactor. 802heath 0 #7 Posted February 17, 2010 i thought about a flapper but my tractors are always parked inside!
Horse Fanatic 49 #8 Posted February 17, 2010 I'm wondering if you should be using a 3/4" muffler on an engine with a 1" exhaust port? If you can find an inline 1" muffler you might be better off.
