Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #2 Posted February 13, 2010 In 1976 and 77 there was an A-90 that was just a lawn mower and nothing special. It had a verticle shaft Briggs. There was an A-90 Special made in 1974 that was part garden tractor and part lawnmower. It had a horizontal shaft briggs and most of a WH frame and font end, but the tranny was not the famous UNI-Drive and so the rear is different. Mike......... Hammerhead 817 #4 Posted February 16, 2010 Here's a pic of my 1974 Wheel Horse Model A-90 Special. It has the Briggs motor and the wimpy Pearless tranny. It is a pretty descent tractor actually. I use it alot around here pulling trailers and I have a snow blade on it right now, although not the correct snow blade for this Model. It also came with a nice 36 inch mower deck. I would buy it if I were you, I paid about $175 for mine in not running condition. They are overall a good machine. Mine starts up as soon as you hit the key!
