Any other suggestions as to what I should do with the rims?

If you have access to someone with the equipment. I would recommend sandblasting the rims. I've hand sanded a couple sets then finally smartened up and remembered my BIL who has a body shop and got him to blast a set. Much, much faster and a smoother outcome. Just a thought....

A wire wheel on a drill will do a pretty good job, or you can bead blast if motor is completely disassembled so you can clean it up afterwards,Rick

Cant believe how trashed my garage looks in the pics!

Regarding the Deere, a friend had it and it didnt run and asked if I would look at it. Got it running, cleaned and waxed it up, had it looking like new, told him to come over and check it out. He stopped by and could not beleive how good it looked (for a deere). He did not think I would get it running so he went out and bought a new one and gave it to me.

Hi Jason,

I am using the Rustoleum industrial primer and Farm Equipment Paint, IH Red.

So far I have been rattle-can painting everything.

The engine I painted with a Rustoleum Hi Temp primer and Gloss engine paint.

I may have missed this in a previous post, but have you torn the carb apart and given it a good cleaning? They can be finicky especially after having sat for quite a while. Also, I caught a post somewhere here about the rubber tip on the float needle valve either hardening up or becoming deformed with age which could give you some issues.

If you haven't yet, be sure to put a fuel filter somewhere in the fuel line between the gas tank and the fuel pump, too.

Just some thoughts.... :)

I had cleaned out the carb, got a new kit, replaced the float needle. Tried starting it with new gas, does not seem to be getting any gas. I think I have the float set too low and the gas level is not up to those holes cross drilled in that center stem. Got the carb manual, going to verify i have it set right, and I will add a in-line filter!
