Plowing and Blowing snow!

One more question, so you have to take the piece off the right side front of the 1054 frame that is used on the 48 inch more deck (seen in the photo below -held on by two bolts and nuts) attached to the front of the frame under the front cowling in order to put the snowthrower frame on with the #56 bolt in the drawing you provided?

Also do you use the second hole from the front on the tractor on the frame to attach the snowthrower frame to with the #56 long bolt?

Yes that bracket needs to be removed and you should use the hole furthest up front to mount the thrower. And no, the second hole is not used by the blower.

I have to admit that I am not 100% sure this is the correct way to do it, but it fits perfect this way for us B)

Nice pair of 1054's by the way! I really like the the two-coloured seats, does all 1054's have that? Ours have a all-red seat, probably recovered at least once...

Black and white was the original color I believe as we have one originalseat cushion and back from a tractor purchased last year.

Ian, Thank you for the information as it is hard to get someone who knows having done it -there are not a lot of 1054's with snowthrowers on them as far as I have seen.

Also Ian what length belt did you end up using to power the snowblower off of the PTO?

We use a A70 belt (70"), but beware that we have made up our own tensioner so it may not be correct for a original blower. Mind you, I think I read somewhere that the original belt had a number that included 70, so my guess is that 70 is correct, but I can not be absolutely sure.

We wrapped the pulleys with a rope and measured the lenght of the rope to get to 70.

On a side note, when I looked up the information about the ST-375 again yesterday I found out that the left bearing should be moved to the right side of the blower plate for use on the long-frame tractors. This is good news for us, because we could not get the pulleys to line up without placing the pulley on the blower halfway off the shaft. So, good that I had to look up the documentation again!

Thanks again Ian. That lining up of the pulleys was a problem my brother was telling me and your explanation helps alot.

So the bearing in the snowthrower case on the STR-375 has to be moved to the right side to make the pulleys line up for the belt to turn freely on the 1054 PTO -outside pulley raceway?

Yes that is correct! This is the bearing on the left (no 16 in the parts diagram i uincluded) that is connected to the axle with a split pin (no 17), the other bearing (no 14) has inset bolts (no 15) and can be adjusted. This will move the axle to the right and hopefully line up the pulleys. The pulley on the blower can be adjusted to get them 100% lined up.

It seems it is not possible to use the inside and larger pulley because the belt will hit the nose of the tractor. It would speed up the thrower though!
