boatman 3 #1 Posted January 27, 2010  I HAVE A RECENTLY PURCHASED 312H WHEELHORSE TRACTOR. THE VOLT METER AND HOUR METER DO NOT WORK{VOLT METER IT SELF IS BAD] AND ALSO THE PANEL WITH ALL THE LITTLE RED LIGHTS IS BAD. I WOULD LIKE TO REWIRE THIS TRACTOR FOR JUST THE BASICS. THAT IS ENG FUNCTIONS AND LIGHTS. CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THE ENGINE WIRING. THE WIRES COMING FROM ENG ARE BLUE, WHITE, ORANGE, AND BROWN. THANKS!!!

Save Old Iron 1,566 #3 Posted January 27, 2010 Boatman, how simple are you going ? no safety switches ?? The indicator board is just that - an indicator - the tractor will run without the board in place. Not sure if this matters, but what year is the tractor ? Maybe we can get you going with a little well directed troubleshooting of the current wiring.
boatman 3 #4 Posted January 27, 2010 THANKS FOR REPLY GUYS. THE TRACTOR IS A 1990 I BELEIVE. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY SWITCHES. AS LONG AS IT STARTS RUNS AND CHARGES THE BATT. I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE K SERIES ELECTRICS BUT THIS FIRST MAGNUM SERIES. THE TAG WITH THE SERIAL NUMBERS AND MODEL NUMBERS IS UNREADABLE. I APPRECIATE ALL HELP. pfrederi 17,645 #5 Posted January 27, 2010 You should download the electrical demystification guide from Toro. The short answer is: White From your regulator to charge battery Tan (Brown ?) Oil level safety switch Blue Magneto...IMPORTANT this is a ground do NOT apply voltage to it or you will fry your ignition system...a costly error Orange Oil level Red Solenoid
Duff 206 #6 Posted January 28, 2010 Boatman, download this manual. It's got a set of wiring diagrams and just about everything else you'll need to work on a Magnum engine. (Heads up - it's 152 pages long!) http://www.kohlerengines.com/onlinecatalog/pdf/tp_2203_a.pdf Cheers! Duff
