Dutch Horse Fan 0 #1 Posted January 24, 2010 I was taking my wheel horse c160 today , and the front wheel came off. When i was putting it back on a noticed that the groove for the retaining ring is guite worn. Does anyone know a good way to fix this?
rickv1957 72 #2 Posted January 24, 2010 You can drill and tap end of axle for a 3/8" bolt as that is how the older models were setup,Rick
rmaynard 15,421 #3 Posted January 24, 2010 Another way is to drill a 1/8" diameter hole through the spindle, using the groove as your guide. Replace the "E" ring with a cotter pin. Bob
Save Old Iron 1,566 #4 Posted January 25, 2010 I had the same problem last year- this worked for me. Just have her sit as far back as she can.

tarcoleo 119 #7 Posted January 25, 2010 That happened to me 16 years ago. Actually, the wheel didn't fall off, I lost the snap ring and had to get the C-111 back on the lawn right away. So I had some 16 gage annealed wire (sold commonly in hardwares) and took a turn with it around the snap ring groove and twisted the ends. Been there ever since. Dutch Horse Fan 0 #8 Posted January 25, 2010 Thanks guys , I Drilled a hole in the groove and put a cutterpin in it, it worked out very well . Apreciate your help! Diederik
rmaynard 15,421 #9 Posted January 25, 2010 Glad my suggestion worked out for you. The trickiest part is getting the hole straight. Did this fix to my B-100 in 2002, and it was still holding strong until this fall when I replaced the spindle. Bob
