gattonde 1 #1 Posted January 18, 2010 I am replacing all the transmission oil seals on my 702. I cannot locate a place to purchase the drive pully oil seal Wheel Horse Part #1303. Does anyone know where I can get one or any replacement part numbers. Thanks, Dan Franklinville, New Jersey
Indy w h 5 #2 Posted January 18, 2010 You might try NAPA. Just take your old one with you and they can match it. Indy
gattonde 1 #3 Posted January 18, 2010 One more question. The manual states to use #40 Gear Oil in Transmission. I have been using 90 weight gear oil in my C-160. Is that the same as #40 Gear Oil. Dan
pfrederi 17,866 #4 Posted January 18, 2010 Manuals of that period frequently called for 40 wt motor oil for the rear end. Later the recommendations were changed to more regular gear oil. My 67 Lawn ranger has been using 40 wt motor oil since she was new with out any problems and she shifts easily in the winter. Your seal 1303 crosses to CR 7410 (.75 shaft .999 bore 0.125 thick)

Lane Ranger 10,992 #7 Posted January 19, 2010  On the Red Square website there is a very handy reference any time you are looking for a new oil seal. It is listed under: Wheel Horse Links, Links to your favorite Wheel Horse sites There is a list of Parts Suppliers http://www2.chicago-rawhide.com/popup_part...okup_457012.htm SKF Chicago Rawhide has a wheel horse seal cross reference. Just plug in your seal number and a new number will generally popup that you can take to NAPA or some other autoparts company or oil sealer supplier.
gattonde 1 #8 Posted January 19, 2010 Thanks Lane Ranger, I have saved that site as a favorite. What gear oil do you use in your ranger? Dan
rickv1957 72 #9 Posted January 19, 2010 I use 90 wt in the manual trans,Rick
linen beige 14 #10 Posted January 19, 2010 The manual states to use #40 Gear Oil in Transmission The manual for my 702 says S.A.E. 90 Gear Lube. I'll bet yours does too, but your "9" may look like a "4". The lube recommendation chart published later calls for SAE 90-140 A.P.I. service GL-5 gear lube. Gear Lube is not the same as engine oil.
