Will this mower deck work?

Recommended Posts

Ken B

I have my eye on a 36 inch rear discharge mower deck off a Commando 8 and I'm wondering if it will work on my 702? I don't have the model #yet. Thanks for any help, Ken

The correct 36" mower deck for both the 704 and Commando 8 machines was the "5-2361 36" Mower".

The correct 36" mower deck for both the 704 and Commando 8 machines was the "5-2361 36" Mower".

Technically, the "correct" deck for a 702 would either be an RM-3662 or an RM-3262 (rectangular shape with welded seams and removable stamped sides to allow clippings to discharge from either the sides or rear) and the Commando 8 should have a 5-2321 or a 5-2361. (stamped steel shell - rear discharge only)

All four units mentioned above are two-blade / gear-driven / cross-shaft style and will fit either of the two tractors listed. (and many other models from that era)

These tractors were not sold with mower decks and it was up to the purchaser to decide of they wanted a 32 or 36 in width of cut. 32 inch models were advertised as being able to pass through a standard 36" residential door opening - which actually allowed the tractor to be stored indoors.

The MPV will list the newest available version of the attachment that fits all prior tractors. I can't say that it's actually wrong.... but it isn't always right. :banghead:
