Made a little progress.......

I need to get another seal for the brake shaft though!! :omg: The rubber seperated from the metal!! I am still not sure on the stainless bolts!?!?!

I also got the new steering pins and tie rod painted and installed.

New rear tires are on the way. I hope to have it rolling within the next week. Once I get it rolling I will tackle the hood and fenders. They will be the most time consuming pieces of the project. It is by no means a show tractor, but I would like to get them as smooth and straight as possible!!

Looking great. Your hood looks pretty good around the lettering. Mine was in terrible condition in that area. (and dented everywhere else) I've been working on it on and off for weeks now and I don't think I'll ever be real happy with it but it'll do.

Rick, I got those at Jed's tire in Tennessee. They are a little cheaper from Morrow Tire in Missouri...... Check Ebay Stores......

I have been slacking in the RJ resto!! I picked up an original exhaust heat shield at the show and got it redone. I still need to wetsand and put some clear on it!! And a pic of how it sits right now. Still have not mounted the rear tires on the wheels!!!

I should be finished with the seat real soon, then it is on to the fenders and the hood!!

As purchased......

Well, getting back to this project. I want to get it done before I drag another one home at Christmas!!! Started on the hood and really wish I would have taken some pictures!!! Learned a couple valuable lessons!!! Be patient when collecting parts and NEVER buy a part that has already been redone, unless you know who did it and how they did it!!!! The million dollar hood I bought had more holes and bondo in it than I could imagine!!! :)

Shot some etch primer on it today so it doesn't rust before I get some filler on it!!!! Will post some pictures after work!!

Horse'n Around

Thats going to be a real beauty! Before I broke my back, my son and I both raced vintage motocross and we always worked on the bikes together. I treasure these memories!

I know what you mean about buying used parts. You have got to be so carefull. With me living where I do there are no  parts to be found anywhere so, buy a lot of parts on Ebay,Ive been really lucky but I have bought a couple of real stinkers too, like a pair of 702 spindles that were supposed to be in " great" condition.I ended up using them to fabricate a jig so I could build new spindles for the 702's. When its at all possible I do my best to buy parts from people here on the forum because I trust the folks here. I have had nothing but good experiences with folks here!

If I missed reading it, I apologize in advance.

What primer and paint did you use?

It looks great.

Spark949, the paint was Valspar Restoration Series IH Red and MOST of the primer I used was Rustoleum Red Primer. I did try some other primers to see if it was a paint issue or primer issue with some minor blemishes!!! All in all, just make sure you follow the recoat times on the paint and allow longer time in cooler temps!!!

Thanks for the compliments!!
