Wheelbearing 49 #131 Posted February 28, 2010 Well I cut all the parts for the muffler, they are all 304 stainless. I laser cut almost all of it even the tubes. The smalles 1"dia. tube I had to drill holes by hand because the laser was just blowing through both sides. I made a drill template out of paper from Solidworks then wrapped it around the tube. Worked great. I'll be welding it up tomorrow. So stay tuned. Here are some pictures.

Wheelbearing 49 #137 Posted March 1, 2010 All done except for some mounting brackets for the heat shield. 4 hours of fitting and welding later. I guess I should finish sanding the primer on the sheet metal and get some red paint out. Stickers are on the way. Then I'll have to find a 48" deck.

Wheelbearing 49 #145 Posted March 8, 2010 amazing, are you a welder/fabricater by trade? I am a Mechanical engineer that grew up in my fathers machine shop since I remember. So I learned how to make most things before I ever designed them. My fathers business was design and building special machinery, like drilling and assembly machines. The cool part was the shop was on my parents property about 7 acres. So going to work or going to make a play part was just a 150' walk. So anything I have to machine I still go back home and make it.
